How we count.
Numbers only mean something if you know how they were made. This page explains our categories, what “direct care” includes, and how we handle gifts for a specific cat.
Spending categories
Every payment gets exactly one category. Direct care is money spent on the cats themselves; support costs are what it takes to run and show the work.

Gifts for a specific cat
When you give to a named case (for example Zeus's surgery) or to a flight, that money is restricted: it can only be spent on that case. The case file shows its target and how much has been raised. If more comes in than the target, the extra moves to the general vet fund, and the case file says so.
Income
We record income when it reaches our account, after the payment provider's fee. TikTok LIVE gifts are recorded net of TikTok's share. Supporter votes are donations; the votes are only a thank-you. Club points have no money value and never appear in these accounts. Adoption contributions cover part of the vet work for adopted cats; we don't make a profit on adoptions.
Fees and support costs
Payment processing fees, website hosting and the gear we use for the live broadcasts are listed as separate lines — never folded into care. We don’t pay salaries; the team volunteers. Water, coffee and meals for the team come only from the volunteer-treats pot.
When donations don't cover a month
It's simple: income minus costs. What's left is the balance, and it can be plus or minus. Our books opened on 1 October 2026 at zero.
No cat goes hungry. If donations don't cover a month, we still pay for food, water and urgent vet care. Neutering rounds, equipment and flights wait until the money is there. The balance then goes into minus, and that figure is exactly how much is missing. It's shown on the overview and in every monthly report until donations catch up.
Treats for the volunteers
Supporters can buy the team water (€2), a coffee (€3), lunch (€8) or any amount they choose. This money goes into its own pot, separate from the cats' money:
- It's for the team: water, coffee and meals on long rescue, vet and trapping days.
- The two pots never mix. Money given for the cats never pays for the team, and the team pot never pays into the cats' money.
- What isn't spent stays in the team pot for the following months.
- In the accounts it has its own income line and its own spending line (“Volunteer treats”), so you can see both every month.
Emergency reserve
We use it only for:
Never for gear, campaigns or running costs. Every draw becomes a ledger line with the reason, and the reserve is refilled before any new project starts. When the target is reached, the set-aside pauses and all income goes back to care.

Locations
We publish colonies by code and district only — never the exact spot, and never when we visit. Street cats can be harmed on purpose, and a public map with feeding times makes that easier. Journalists and partners can ask us directly for more detail.
Unit costs
The costs behind the amounts on our donation buttons. For now they are estimates from vet and supplier prices in Cyprus; once we have a few closed months, we update them from the ledger.
Closing the books
At the end of each month we reconcile the ledger with the bank statement, publish the monthly report, and then lock the month. Corrections after closing are added as new lines with a note — nothing is silently edited.
